I have not stayed there, bbut we checked out their restaurant and were unimpressed with the lobby and cafe. We stayed at the Cedar Street Guest House, a two-bedroom rental house down the street. It was very cozy and convenient.

Here's a link for the Cedar Street house. It's a free standing, two bedroom house (not a B&B), clean and filled with character. Reasonable rates; rental by the day; full kitchen and living room; coffee shop just up the alley; easy walk to all of Wallace's sights. Julie and John, the owners, were great.

I checked out the Cedar Street House and it requires a two night minium stay, looks like a reasonably priced rental house. My wife likes old hotels, so we will probably stay at the Brooks Hotel in one of their king-size bedroom rooms on the third floor. We are just staying in Wallace for the night on our way to Gardiner and Yellowstone next July.

I'd recommend the Jameson for a delightful dinner.

After revising our travel plans, we have decided to visit Wallace for about three hours to see the Sierra Silver Mining Tour and the Oasis Bordello tour and sightsee the town and travel further east to Missoula, Montana to stay at the Blue mountain Bed and Breakfast.

Can't say much about the Brooks Hotel but three hours in Wallace should be fine, you have picked the major sites, the only other one I would add is the local museum in the old North Pacific RR Depot. Its right downtown. I think going on to Missoula would make the next day's drive to Yellowstone a little more enjoyable. If you ever have more time the one other great thing to do in the Wallace area is the Route of the Hiawatha bike trail, here is the web site www.skilookout.com/hiaw You can rent bikes and bike racks at the Lookout Ski area at the top of Lookout Pass on Interstate 90. Have fun on your trip!

We did the Sierra Silver Mine Tour in 2004 and were the only ones on the tour. It's fairly technical but the guide made sure we understood everything. The mine isn't pretty like the Crystal Gold Mine in Kellogg but we really enjoyed the tour. After we got back on the tram, we went into the back and picked out a core sample to take home.
