There are tons of kid-friendly things to do here. Take a look at metromix.com & chicagoparent.com for ideas. You can also do dining searches at chicagoreader.com

Which three days in August? Perhaps you are here during the Air and Water Show?

Chicago has the Art of Play event occurring during the summer. The center for it is located right across the street from the Chicago Cultural Center on Randolph, but the festival is held at numerous locations all around the city. Take a look at their website for more information.

If you go to the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum is very convenient - it's only 1 block north of the Zoo, just north of Fullerton. Their special exhibit this summer is "Robots and Us: Where Nature Meets Machines".

Head down to Hyde Park via city bus and take in the venerable Museum of Science and Industry which is packed with interactive exhibits, super for kids.

A couple of Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Hilton Garden Inn.

Chicago is a big convention city. Hotel rates run all over the place.
