Fun things to do?

I am taking my Husband to Chicago for his birthday in February and looking for fun things to do. We typically go to Chicago for a Bears or cubs game so all of our other trips have been planned around that. We are a group of late 20s to early 30s looking for some good places to eat, drink and see. Any suggestions would be great!

Also, we are thinking of staying at the Embassy Suites downtown any thoughts on that?

Thanks!

Sorry... mostly looking for some places to eat and drink that have a fun atmosphere. Any non- chain type places would be great! We are looking for some night life type things to do as well.

The Embassy Suites downtown is a good hotel, right by Michigan Ave and close to the L. Easy to get cabs too. A short cab ride or a 15-20 minute walk will get you to the Rush St. area with lots of bars/clubs. Tavern on Rush, Level, Hunt Club are located there as well as tons of good restaurants like Gibson's <---- good but pricey steakhouse with great martinis, McCormick and Schmicks <---- seafood place. Rosebud is also close by for good Italian food and wine.

Something fun to do would definitely be going up to the top floor of the Hancock building, right on Michigan Ave and going to the Signature Lounge for drinks. Go at night when it's clear and the view is amazing. It's free to go up, but the drinks are a little pricey. Still the view and atmosphere are worth it for a drink or two.

Here are some fun restaurants. Suggest you check them out on metromix.com or a similar site to see if they might appeal to you:

Rockit Bar & Grill (good for Sunday brunch, too) on Hubbard http://www.rockitbarandgrill.com/

Mercat a la Planxa at the Blackstone Hotel

ChicagoMag.com always has good restaurant info, too. ChicagoReader.com has the best music listings. Vertigo Sky Bar is a popular bar (Erie & State Street, in the Dana Hotel) danahotelandspa.com/rooftop-lounge/index.cfm
