Question concerning taxis and the Royal George Theatre

We have tickets for the Royal George Theatre on Sat night. Will we have any problem getting a cab after the 8 p.m. show? What is the proper technique for flagging down a cab? Are there particular cab companies to stay away from?

You won't have a problem finding a cab along Halsted. Just raise your arm as you see one approach.

Cabs keep track of when shows end and swarm theatres.

There are usually a fair number of cabs, but of course there will be others vying for them, especially if it's raining. This is why you'll see many people leaving before the curtain calls. Some will start walking in the direction of the approaching cabs to head one off, and others cross the street to catch a southbound cab. (Since you are across from Steppenwolf's two theaters, this may or may not work, depending on the timing!)

You may have to wait 15 minutes or so, though it will seem longer. If the weather prediction is really bad, make a Plan B - you are only 2-3 blocks from the North/Clybourn stop on the Red Line, for instance.
