Arriving Saturday - is shopping still good??

We fly in on Sat for a 5 night stay at the Palmer House. Does the shopping drop off from Black Friday or does it just carry on?

Are we close to the shopping area State st or Michegan Ave?

thanks for your help!

Yippee...Chicago here we come.

It will be crowded all weekend. Have fun. State St is on the west side of your hotel. Michigan Ave is just east of your hotel. Macy's is a couple of block north of your hotel on State. The Mag Mile area begins about 4 blocks north of your hotel - an easy bus or cab ride.

...it is really an easy walk from your hotel! A bus or cab is usually more trouble than just walking.

You are in a great spot--the Palmer is a majestic hotel. You will love the lobby. You are just a 5 minute walk from Macy's on state street. If you want to go to North Michigan Ave, just walk east a couple blocks to Michigan Ave and start walking north. There are shops along the way but once you cross the river, that is where the North Michigan Shopping begins and it will get more ritzy with Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Nordtroms, Tiffany's, Cartier, and then places like the Apple Store, Nike Town, etc. Have fun!

Shopping in Chicago never stops. Macy's (aka Marshall Fields) is close enough that you can carry your purchases back to the hotel. N. Michigan Ave. is a cab ride- especially with your arms full. Getting a cab is easy. If you have any trouble go to the nearest hotel and there will be a taxi queue.
