Help with O'Hare Airports

Greetings:

Have been successful in the past with 4 star hotels on Priceline and gotten either the O'Hare Hilton or Westin in the 'north' area....NOT so lucky this time (must be a big convention in town November 8).

Was wondering if the 3.5 star hotels ( Hyatt Rosemont, Marriot or Marriott Suites) were OK or if I should take a chance with the 'south' hotels that include Hyatt Regency, Doubletree, Renaissance, etc)......any hotels that should be avoided from the list above (not that I will have a choice)....also, which is closer to Gibsons or Mortons--the 'north' or the 'south' hotels, or are they equidistant and/or is one area better than the other?

Thanks

My favorite hotel in the area used to be the Sheraton Gateway Suites Chicago O'Hare went is was originally an Embassy Suites. But that's been some time ago, and I haven't stayed at the new Embassy Suites. Still, the Sheraton's location is extremely easy access to O'Hare by hotel shuttle or by rental car. And by rental car easy to get into the city. The hotel itself is quiet despite closeness to the airport and major roads. A number of decent places to eat along Higgins.

As for your list, beyond the Westin, there really isn't a lot of difference between these any of these hotels. Competition keeps them pretty much all alike. You'll likely have a good stay at any of them. And on the wrong night it could go wrong even at the Westin, but I think you could throw darts and make a good choice.

Have you googled map the hotels?

You can't go wrong with any of them. Some are located on River Road and a couple of others are located on Mannheim which is west of there.

As for public transport, the Blueline (CTA) has the Rosemont stop (which is River road) and you can walk to several of the hotels. If you're at some of the ones located on Mannheim, you'll either need to take a cab or see if the hotel has a shuttle to take you to OHare or Rosemont.

Gibsons is on the "north side" and Mortons is on the "south side". If you had to choose, go to Gibsons. While there is nothing wrong with Mortons, Gibsons service just stands out better.

Update...was able to get the Hilton O'Hare for $102 on Priceline....after a 4 hour flight from the West Coast, nice to be able to walk to the hotel from my gate, not to have to rent a car until the next day and avoid overnight hotel parking, and have access to their nice gym (though they charge for its use)......I take it Gibsons is within a 10-15 minute, $10-15 cab ride from the hotel.....any other noteworthy restaurants (not interested in Mortons), perhaps different type food (Italian?) that are standouts or is this as best as it gets in Rosemont?...thanks
