What are forum guidelines?I doubt Medinah will have room for motorhome parking. IMO - rent a car and stay in a nearby hotel or condo rental. http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/illinois
I've used this company.

The closest campsite is in Millbrook, IL and that's around 1 hour from Medinah.
However, I agree with Dave, it will be a hassle to drive, park and such around the Metro area with an Motorhome.
Look for hotels around Schaumburg, Itasca, Downers Grove. These cities all run north and south along the I-355/53/290 highway.
I doubt Ryder will have RV parking, either for the day or overnight. Call Medinah to make sure. Much of the parking will be at remote locations with shuttle buses. Also, I don't think you'll save money renting an RV vs. hotel and rental car.
If you don't want to rent a car, you could try to find a hotel walking distance from the Metra Milwaukee District West Line. Medinah is a stop on the line and should have shuttles from the station to the golf course. However, other than downtown Chicago, this will be difficult to find.
Also, if you stay in the suburbs, you'll need a car to get to dinner and nightlife.
Not only will Medinah likely not have RV parking, they actually have very little parking in general. When Medinah has hosted PGA/USGA events in the past, they shut down the road that has the only entrance into the country club. It is my understanding that they are even shutting down the high school across the street from Medinah during the Ryder Cup. They typically have used remote parking and shuttles. You might be able to find places that allow you to park your RV for a fee, but those would likely not have any hook-ups for power, etc.
I agree with the other posters that a hotel and car rental is probably your best option I agree with RickMP that taking the Metra to Medinah would be convenient (I take that train line every day), but like he said there just aren't many hotels within walking distance of a station except in downtown Chicago, and the cost difference would almost certainly be more than the cost of the car rental.
If you go the hotel route, there are a significant number of hotels in Schaumburg, Itasca and Elk Grove Village that are within a 10 minute drive of Medinah Country Club.
Type "RV parking" in the Chicago search engine. You will find that this area is not RV friendly. Find a hotel and rent a car.
There will be a security exclusion zone around Medinah CC for the Ryder Cup and you will not be able to park on the course. You might be able to park an RV in a Park and Ride site but unlikely to have power. Some people asl permission at Superstores but unlikely at Medinah. RV hire is very expensive. Motels in areas such as Lombard and reasonable and hire a car from the UK online before you go. Use a comparison site for best price.

We are from Australia and attended the 1990 US Open at Medinah Country Club it was a fabulous experience,we had no idea of the enormity of the Chicago Area and do not recommend driving there, stay at a Hotel and get a shuttle bus, from memory we stayed not far from Arlington Racecourse ,do not pre book any shows or entertainment in downtown Chicago to follow a day at the Golf, you will not make it as we discovered, just play your day as it comes you have the tickets you will have a ball.

What are forum guidelines?Does anyone know if there will be shuttle buses or any transportation from downtown Chicago to the Ryder Cup?
Best way is to take Metra to the Medinah station. There should be shuttles from Medinah station to the course. metrarail.com, and search "Ryder Cup" on this forum for previous posts.
