Where to stay near Navy Pier with a baby

We will be going by train to Chicago in a few weeks. We have a 9month old and plan to go to the Shedd and to Navy Pier. I was wondering where to stay that is within no more than a mile's walking distance and is baby friendly. We can always take taxi's but we prefer to walk. I don't have time to sit and research a lot of options as my baby is crawling into the other room :)

Thank you for the help!

Shedd is about 3 miles south of Navy Pier. You can take a water taxi - shorelinesightseeing.com/watertaximap.html

A regular taxi between Shedd and Navy Pier runs about $9. It was worth it, it would've been a long walk. There's also buses that run between the areas, but they don't run all the time and sometimes the wait is long.
