dog parks

I will be driving into Evanston on the 19th and staying until the 25th and bring my dog along. Does anyone know if I need to apply for a Chicago dog license to be able to attend the local dog parks or will my license from where I'm from be sufficient. Also are there any dog friendly beaches around the north side of the city?

no, I live here and don't have any license for my dog and I go to many dog parks. I think I may be breaking some kind of rule, but I'm just telling you there aren't really any dog police. Yes there is a dog beach up north around Belmont. It's a special area where the dogs can play. You'll know it when you see a bunch of dogs swimming around.

What you will get in trouble for in Chicago is not keeping your dog on a leash and not picking up poo. The Belmont doggy beach is a great place, not to be missed for dogs running around, swimming around, chasing each other. A real dog show.

Check out the Chicago Park District site. If you don't have a permit and a tag, you can be fined $300.

There are sometimes police stationed at dog parks in the City - especially at Montrose Dog Beach. You need a dog park license from a vet to go to a dog park. This is one way we dog owners stop the spread of dog diseases (distemper, hepatitis, para influenza, parvovirus, & bordetella). Here are some links for you. Please don't go if you don't have the license.
