I don't usually get drawn into the pizza debates, but I have to argue with poster #1 on this one. I love Lou's deep dish, but most of my family thinks their thin crust is pretty awful. I usually stay away from it in favor of the deep dish.

But basically there's pizza places on every street corner. Most are pretty good. My theory is that most locals tend to like a couple local ones that are near where they live.

Surprise! There is a Chicago style thin crust pizza. Chicago style thin crust is a non-yeast crust cut in squares (bar cut) instead of wedges. Places you can get it downtown are

Pizano's 864 N. State St., 800 N. Dearborn and 61 E. Monroe

Coco Pazzo 300 W. Hubbard

Gino's is well known but their quality suffers from their fame; it's strictly for tourists. Bar Toma has interesting toppings but every pizza I've had there has a soggy center and burnt edges. Malnati's thin crust is pretty anemic but they do have a 9" gluten free thin crust

If you have a car, take a drive up to the Mayfair/Albany Park area on Lawrence near Pulaski and go to Marie's. It's been there since the 40's and their thin crust is awesome. Italian menu also is okay but go for the pizza. This is the traditional Chicago style thin crust pizza.
