Some watering-hole help please

I'm looking for a good place to have a pre-concert meet-up with some friends. The concert is at the Auditorium (congress & wabash).

Could anyone recommend a good place to have a few in that area.

Preferably, not a chain like E & C or anything. Some hole in the wall with some character and interesting characters would be great.

thanks alot.

A very classy place with prices to match would be Whiskey Blue in the W hotel City Center around 200 W. Adams. It's about a mile away right off the Quincy Stop and owned by Cindy Crawford's husband. Another place more reasonable, a BIT closer and a more English Pub atmosphere is Elephant and Castle.

Sorry I can't get you closer, but as I've said before, I never hang out in the Loop. I also won't recommend a place I haven't been to or at least heard an overwhelming number of recommendations from people I personally know and trust.

I can't recall the name(s) in particular, but in the Printer's Row neighborhood - maybe a two long block walk to the theater, there are several local places to drink and snack. Just walk W. on Congress Pkwy. to Dearborn St., and then to your left, south, for the next two blocks. I was just on the street two weeks ago for the annual, and very successful Printer's Row Book Fair.

thanks,

Printer's Row sounds promising.

Anyone have a name of a good establishment there?

This is kind of a local chain but I always enjoyed in spite of that fact and since I dont know of other kind of divey bars in the area, I'll mention Bar Louie 47 W. Polk. I think they have outdoor seating too.

Their food is delicious too if you need a little something before you go to the concert.

By the way your screen name and picture makes me laugh out loud just thinking about different episodes every time I see it. I LOVE The Office.
