Priceline hotel in Chicago?

Has anyone ever used Priceline "name your own price" for a hotel in Chicago? Just wondering which hotels they typically put people in?

The hotels vary by "zone". Check out some of the bidding forums like biddingfortravel as they have lists of the hotels that Priceline and Hotwire offer.

Just wanted to add that I got a hotel for end of August using the Priceline blind booking and based on the location, amenties and star rating I was able to narrow it down to 1 of 2 hotels before purchasing using those forums. Got a great price and luckily there were no surprises.

betterbidding forum is the way to do it. They will give you a strategy to bid and just look over others' wins and dates and get a sense of what you might get. Last summer I got Renaissance Downtown Chicago $102 a night, Hyatt Regency Chicago $98 a night and The Blackstone Renaissance $95 a night. Just won the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel for $95 a night over the weekend at the end of this month.

In years past we put in "Loop area" and probably the highest number of stars and got The Palmer House. It was a wonderful, old hotel, nice lobby, small rooms. A friend also got it when they put in Loop area on Priceline also. Good luck!

a number of years ago we got the Chicago HIlton in the loop for 45$ -- a while back -- but it was a bargain then and because we love the Art Institute this was a great location for us. last time we used Priceline was a couple of years ago and we got the Hyatt with a great view of the lake and the river for 85$ -- we didn't like the hotel (thinnest walls we have ever experienced -- horribly noisy) but it was certainly a great location for a bargain price.

you can get some real deals if you use betterbidding and you are judicious with zones -- and if you can deal with a bit of uncertainty -- we have used priceline in many big cities for holidays and have always gotten great deals -- of course if there is a convention you can come up empty

Hotel prices here also vary from day to day - Chicago is also a convention destination.
