Big 10 race this Sunday, what to do?

My daughter and husband are running the Big 10 race early this Saturday, July 27th at 7:00 a.m, I will be waiting for them. Start and finish will be near the Adler Planetarium - any ideas where I can walk to and wait for a bit - get a good cup of coffee??? Probably looking to kill an hour or so. Thanks for any suggestions.

theres nothing over there besides the museums, but its a great place to take pics of the city or you could walk over to northerly island and explore a bit

Closest coffee shops are over a mile away. Pick up something on the way to the race.

Take a "poor-me" picnic along. Your favorite foods and only your favorite foods. Endulge yourself while you wait. Find yourself some shade (possible but not probably) and relax. OR: take the water taxi to Navy Pier and grab a bite there and take the taxi back in time to meet your runners. As they cross the finish line look like you've been there the whole time, just chewing your fingernails until they made it back.

Water taxis start running at 10 AM. It might work if you and your runners want to do some casual sightseeing later. shorelinesightseeing.com/watertaxis/…

Surely there will be some booths with food and drinks, especially coffee, at that hour. http://www.btnbig10k.com/btn-tailgate/

As pgo notes, there will in all likelihood be a coffee truck serving up small cups for runners, volunteers, and spectators.
