There's probably 100+ restaurants within walking distance of your hotel. Cuisine(s) and budget would help us narrow it down for you.

Meanwhile - you can research dining options at www.chicagoreader.com and www.chicagomag.com to start. Use River North and Mag Mile areas as your search parameters.

Too many. One on each corner and two inbetween. All cuisines and price points.

I think the Terrace Bar in the Conrad is lovely although the menu is small. Other favorites in the area:

1. Quartinos (State and Illinois ish)-Italian food served Tapas style

2. Grand Lux café (Michigan Ave)- a chain but big menu and good food

3. Pizza-There us an Unos, Dues, and Giordanos pretty close

But you have a ton of choices in the area. Quartinos is one of my favorites

I think that is the first reco for Quartino's I've seen on TA. Grand Lux is a Cheesecake Factory owned franchise with cakes instead of cheesecake and more sugar in their huge portions for big, big Americans than Cheesecake Factory has in a single hamburger bun. There are actually non-chain restaurants in the River North Area. Eat someplace non-chain, someplace you can't find in the local Mall.

I would not recommend Quartino or Grand Lux Cafe either. Near the Conrad, I would suggest Xoco for casual Mexican food – http://www.rickbayless.com/restaurants/xoco/

Rick Bayless' other restaurants are solid for finer dining too.

Cafe des Architectes' in the Sofitel for something a little nicer, especially if you like French desserts. The pastry chef here does a great job – http://www.cafedesarchitectes.com/

Paris Club – http://parisclubbistroandbar.com/

Solid French bistro food and really nice interior.
