Elks Veterans Memorial, Open to Public thru October 2014

The Elks Veterans Memorial is not typically open to the public, but through October 26, 2014, it is hosting a sculpture exhibit and so is open from noon until 4pm Monday - Saturday. This is a great opportunity to see a spectacular building. Take a look at the reviews posted here on TA of the building / interior. This article at DNA Info Chicago (dnainfo.com/chicago/20140627/lincoln-park/el…) has additional info on the exhibit.

Just wanted to alert folks to this opening.

Forgot to mention the Elks Memorial is located at Diversey Parkway and Lakeview Ave, across the street from Lincoln Park. This is a 15-20 minute walk from Lincoln Park Zoo, and a 10 minute or less walk from the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. You can walk thru the North Pond Nature Sanctuary on your way there. Also the #151 Sheridan bus has a stop (northbound) directly across the street, the southbound bus is at Sheridan and Surf (one block north of Diversey). Lastly note Lakeview Ave changes it name to Sheridan at Diversey.

So this can be a nice add-on to either the nature museum or the zoo.
