airport car rental

Hi! We are coming to Indiana in Sept. to visit our son and family and will need a car. We are staying in Noblesville. Just wondering if anyone knows if any of the car rentals at the airport are better than others? We have rented from Enterprise in Indiana but weren't too impressed (car wasn't ready - had to wait for one to be washed - all of them were dirty). We've rented from Dollar before (in Hawaii) and liked their service, etc.

Any thoughts? We may drive up to Chicago for a Cubs game, too. Just haven't clicked submit for some of those pricey tickets. ; )

No opinion on car rentals. While in Florida used Hertz was fine. When in Californian used national ( no longer) But if planning on driving up to Chicago get one with a GPS to get to the ballpark. Plan on 3 or 4 hour drive if not much traffic. Thought of staying in a hotel for a night? Then go to the ball game. But I agree Wrigley Field is a place to check out a game at least once in your lifetime. Enjoy.

The car rental companies are all about the same. I go with whatever is cheapest. For the last year I've used either www.hotwire.com or booked via Southwest.com. Sometimes you don't know what company you are getting until you pay, but hotwire only uses the major companies so no worries there.

I go with whatever rental is cheapest..... I've used Priceline several times, but currently have a reservation with Enterprise since I found an online coupon that gave me a better price than the price Priceline turned down! Seems like each city has their "cheapest" rental companies & rarely the same in different cities. I've also heard a good place to rent cars is thru Costco.

Another thought on going to a game is to take the South Shore train from northern IN : http://www.nictd.com/

You'd have to do some research on where to depart & how to get to the game. Sorry, I'm not that familiar.

All of the standard car rental chains (e.g. Hertz, National/Budget, etc.) are present at the Indy airport, though not all in one location (this will change with opening of the new passenger terminal in Nov.). Currently, you will take your rental company's shuttle bus to their location, generally about a five minute ride. Although I never rent a car in Indy because I live here, some of my colleagues from out of town report good results with both National and Hertz.

Figure on 3.5+ hours to Wrigley Field, and check on construction progress at the I-65/I-80 interchange. A bit of a mess currently.
