Downtown w/ 3yr old...Help?

Coming from Ohio w/ wife and 3 yr old...staying at the Conrad for 2 nights. Would like to see the zoo and Circle centre mall. Need some suggestions on eating downtown. Thinking about carriage ride maybe...gondola ride? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Have never done gondola ride or carriage ride. But my choice would be carriage ride it goes through downtown proper. where gondola is in a sunken canal slightly west of downtown but your choice. Zoo is great for all ages can be done early in 2 or 3 hours or late afternoon. early arrivers leave in the afternoon and more people arrive around noon so it is crowded. Try Old spaghetti factory kid friendly but do not take reservations arrive close to five when they open.

You may get some additional ideas from a similar question posted in April:

I agree with tuesdaypoolnight...the Gondola ride is nice, but not sure how long it would keep a 3 yr old's interest. There's peddle boat and surry bike rentals in White River State Park. Peddle boats are near the State Office Building, and bike rentals near the Indiana State Museum. It's probably a better way to see the canal with a 3 yr old in tow. I do recommend the carriage ride, however. The horse alone is entertaining enough at that age.

A "rainy day" option is the Children's Museum. If you haven't been to the Children's Museum, your 3 yr old would love it. It would take nearly all day, so be prepared for that. I have a 2 yr old who begs to go every time we drive by.

Other dinner options include Scotty's Brewhouse (just south of Washington and Penn) very close to your hotel. They have a good child's menu - last I checked Tuesdays and Sundays kids eat free. Iaria's, a local Italian restuarnt, on South College is also a very kid-friendly restaurant. Not really feasible to walk to, but a very short drive. They are closed on Mondays.
