North or South Lexington?

Hi all....looking to book a quick getaway to Lexington in Spring, and am a bit confused. Hotels are listed as North or South Lexington on Hotwire and we have NO idea which would be a better fit. We are looking to stay somewhere within easy walking distance to shops / bars / restaurants. Are both of the locations fiting? We mainly just want to be able to walk rather than get the car out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hotels are spread all over the city and you can't really divide the city into two parts because there are so many different areas. Downtown may be the best area for you (Hyatt, Hilton or Gratz Park Inn) since they are in easy walking distance of many shops, restaurants and bars.

Downtown would be good, some areas farther north are a little sketchy in my opinion - I prefer to keep south of 4th street when venturing downtown. There is a hyatt downtown that is pretty central, but check out what is going on at rupp arena - if there's a big concert or something you might run into some "after parties.". There's also the hamburg area that has lots of shops & restaurants, but it is almost all chain stuff. South side is generally more residential.

Thank you! How is the w. Main / Jefferson intersection area? We found a rental right around there.

I use this website to determine what listings both Hotwire and Priceline use:

www.betterbidding.com

It provides a listing of what hotels they chose from when bidding and then also a listing of recent successful bids for each. It is very valuable (IMHO).
