What situation?

Louisiana has lots of good state parks. We used to take our children to Tickfaw when they were younger. Check out www.lastateparks.com.

I've always heard that Chicot is a good one.

Chicot Lake near Ville Platte has great campgrounds and excellent canoeing. Indian Creek also has great campgrounds, with less favorable conoeing. Lake Fausse point has goo canoeing, but IDK about campgrounds. Neat cabins though. Check out the La State Parks website for info/reservations for Chicot and Fausse Point.

Forgot to mention hiking in Chicot incredible. Lake is on edge of prairie terrace and alluvial bottomland, so has incrdible mix of plant and animal species. Long trail around lake makes for incredible hiking, with primitive campsites.
