Trip Report - East Boothbay Harbor

I'm a newbie at writing trip reports, but I just have to share what a great B&B I found in East Boothbay Harbor :) It's the Linekin Loft B&B www.linekinbaybb.com/rmlinekinloft.htm. We just got back from a 3 day week-end and let me tell you, this place exceeded my expectations! I have been to B&Bs in many places, including Scotland and Ireland, and this place was fantastic. The website gives you a pretty good idea of how fantastic it is. Larry and Marti pay attention to all of the little details. Each room is unique (and named) and they are all very cute. We stayed in the Linekin Loft, which as you might guess has a lovely loft. There is stenciling everywhere, plush towels with the labels removed so that they don't irritate you, and fancy soaps. Common areas have vases of flowers, pitchers of hot and cold beverages, and afternoon snacks. There's even a dish if chocolate kisses :) Breakfast was delicious each morning, starting with coffee and tea available whenever you get up. Then fresh fruit, followed by stuffed French Toast with wild Maine blueberry sauce one morning, and an egg strata the next. I'll post part 2 to cover what we saw and did, right now I can't stop gushing about the B&B! If you're in that part of Maine, stay at Linekin Loft B&B!

Oops, it's Linekin Bay B&B, not Linekin Loft, and it's East Boothbay, not East Boothbay Harbor, but you get the idea.

Now, on to things to see and do there -

1. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (http://www.lighthouse.cc/pemaquid/) This was so much fun. Great walking around on the rocks, walking up to the top of the lighthouse, followed by a pinic lunch right there. We brought food, as did many other groups of people. It's only $2 per person to park and then it's all free.

2. Puffin Watch - http://www.mainepuffin.com/ - Sunday mornings at 10 AM. It's $25 per adult, and well worth it. We saw literally hundres of puffins. Don't pay $20 to park right there, go up the hill 1 block and you can find parking for $5 or $7 for all day on someone's lawn.

3. Dinner - 93 Townsend - (http://www.93townsend.com/menus.htm#DINNER) - It has seafood and non-seafood, very good, but no view of the water, if that matters.

4. Dinner - McSeagulls - mcseagullsonline.com/images/menu/mcseagulls_… - It has seafood and non-seafood (burgers, ribs, beef, pork, & chicken). VERY BIG menu, 10 pages, some of everything. We waited the 20 minutes for a table outside, because it was 90 degrees that day (yes, in Maine!). Great view, lots of food choices, very relaxed place.

Thanks for your report! Especially the detailed info about the lighthouse and puffin tour. There's been a lot of questions about both this summer and your info will be really helpful.

Glad I can help. I have gotten such valuable info from Trip Advisor over the years, it's my turn to pay it back :)

I just wanted to add one more place that we visited -

The Botanical Gardens (http://www.mainegardens.org/). They were lovely, and $10 per adult to go in. We spent close to 2 hours there, and you could easily spend more if you weren't already hot and tired, like we were.

enjoy Boothbay Harbor
