We are making our first visit to Maine in September and have two weeks, one in the Bar Harbour area and the other in the Booth Bay area. We like walking and good food, wildlife and history. Any advice?

At the "Maine Forums" page, click on the drop-down box to "Select a More Specific Forum" -- then choose Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor (no "u" in the spelling) or Boothbay Harbor. Each of those selections will open up recent forum posts specific to those particular locations. Should provide lots of good info about things to do, places to see, places to eat, etc....

Plenty of walking/hiking, photography, history, and general advice in many of the postings already there....

Most of your questions have probably already been asked -- so you should find useful responses.....but to provide a meaningful response to a question as general as yours would require more time and space than most of the volunteers who watch this forum want to put into repeating info that's already readily available.... You could also check the website for Acadia National Park for answers to questions about walking/hiking, history and photos.

If, after checking previous questoins and answers, you still have specific questions or concerns, please feel free to come on back and ask....

We are making our first trip to Maine (2 adults and 3 kids) in early August. We are looking at the Spruce Point Inn in Booth Bay Harbor and a cottage rental near Old Orchard Beach. Old Orchard beach is closer and cheaper but I was afraid it might be crowded and touristy. Any insights?

OOB (right on the beach) and the Spruce Point Inn would be two very different vacation spots. Besides not crowded, what do you want in your vacation?

It also might help to start your own thread (choose "ask a question") and post it in the Maine forums, as this post is almost a year old and some people might not answer.
