Camping on Ram Island Light//East Boothbay

Hi, was told that we could kayak/canoe over to Ram Island and camp for the night, but having trouble finding any info. online about this. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you in advance

This site would seem to indicate that public access is not available:

One group to check with would be the Maine Island Trail Association:

http://www.mita.org/

Islands in Maine are often privately owned. Some people assume they can hike, camp, etc. on any of them, but finding the owner or an association with access is the correct thing to do.

yes

you can kayak to Ram island and camp on it.

We did that 2 years ago and had a great time.

We made arrangements through Tidal Transit Kayaks right in Boothbay Harbor.

They can rent you the kayaks and equipment, or have a guide go with you.

We have done this several times with a guide and they are really great to go with. We would highly recommend the folks at Tidal Transit and the trip

Just to clarify..there are 21 islands of the coast of Maine known as "Ram Island"

The one we kayaked to and camped on is about 2 miles west of Boothbay Harbor near "Isle of Springs" in the Sheepscott river.

It was a great trip, but not the island I think you were referring to with the lighthouse.

Sorry if this causes any confusion.
