Budget lodging in or near Camden

Here is what we are looking for:

1) Rate under $100 per night in sept

2)Refrigerator in room

3) Quiet - not much traffic noise.

4) Beautiful grounds

5) Four to six miles north or south of Camden.

Any suggestions

Look at the Ducktrap Motel. They have a strip motel and cottages. http://www.ducktrapmotel.com

Search for the word "Ducktrap" in the Maine forum and you'll find a few reviews of it.

The CedarCrest in Camden might fit your needs too and it's much more convenient. Ask for a room back from Route 1 and you won't hear the traffic. It's all squeaky clean, has a very good breakfast in the restaurant.

How about a rustic little cottage at the High Tide Inn?

We too are looking at our options for the Camden area. Wondered if anyone has any thoughts on whether it is better to look for options north or south of Camden?

Glen Cove motel and Claddagh in Rockport looks good while in Lincolnville Ducktrap, Mt Battie Motel and others look appealing. Any thoughts on pros or cons and are the best dining options north, south or in Camden itself?

Depends on what else you are going to do in the area.

If I couldn't be right in Camden, I'd look south because there is more to do to the south exploring Rockland, and lighthouses in Owls Head, Rockland, Port Clyde, Pemaquid, the cruise to Monhegan, etc.

All the places mentioned are decent, Cedar Crest is another good one in the area. If you choose something right on Route 1, be sure they can offer you a quiet room in the rear because the traffic can be nonstop day and night in the summer time. If you want a nice view, however, and you're on Route 1...you're pretty much stuck with the traffic noise.

Glenmoor By the Sea would be another one to check. As for the first question from Mrs. Doubtfire....under $100 should be quite easy to find between Sept 7 and Sept 20.

The area between Camden and Belfast has some nice motels with cottages that overlook the bay.

One that comes to mind is Colonial Gables. Some rent for less than 100.00 a night.

Ledges by the Bay. Basic but good.
