deer isle in November?

We have traveled many times to this wonderful place in the summer. we are wondering what it is like in November, are the roads good, the weather okay for hiking, are any restaurants open? Any input would help. Thanks

1. Re: deer isle in November?

Assuming that the weather and the roads are no different than up here on Mount Desert Island, I would say November would be a wonderful time to come. It's unusual for us to have much snow in November. It is soon plowed away when we do get some. The days are pleasant for hiking and, without leaves on the trees, there is so much more of the land and rock formations to see, not to mention waterviews everywhere. As for restaurants, you might have to travel to Ellsworth. Not sure about that, though.
