Moosehead Lake or Smaller Lake/Pond

Hello,

I am planning a trip to the Moosehead Lake area in August. I am looking for a lakeside cabin. Priorities are swimming, kayaking and wildlife watching. I am wondering if I should be looking at the smaller lakes/ponds in the area vs Moosehead Lake for a more quiet, peaceful setting.

I am trying to avoid a lot of power boats, jet skis, etc.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Moosehead Lake is a place everyone should get to visit in their lifetime! If you are looking for peace and quiet, try to go in September just after Labor day.

You might see if there are cabins on Wilson Pond.

The lake is pretty big. You can easily stay at Moosehead and go to the smaller lakes for the day. I saw some where there was literally no one around. I stayed at Greenville and the town was cute and fun at night, adding a nice balance to the Maine/outdoorsy aspect.
