Short Review, Labor Day

Sunday and Monday in Ogunquit, Sunday was packed with people and traffic, started to thin out around 9:30pm, unless you were eating at 5pm you would have at least an hours wait, most all of the restaurants in town were crowded with lines backed up. Families with young ones were noticeable along with many of our Northern friends from Canada.

Ate at the usual places like Five 0, Cove Cafe, La Pizzeria and Catch of the Day, had light lunches on the beach.

The two day were beautiful with full Sun until Monday afternoon around 3 or 4pm then it started to get a bit cloudy, that was fine since we both had enough sun for the two days, My Son joined us all day Sunday since he only lives 30 min away.

Stayed at Seacastles in a Loft room which was nice, had drinks with people we met at the beach before going to dinner who were also staying at Seacastles.

Beach was fairly crowded

People and traffic started to thin out Monday for there trip home, all and all we had a great time as usual in Ogunquit.

Sounds like a nice weekend. We were in Boston and the weather was nice there too. We're are in Ogunquit at the moment and it rained pretty much all day! I think it's much the same for tomorrow but hoping it will improve for Thursday. We are here til Friday so hoping to have at least one nice day!

Dont let the weather be a bummer, at least you have an Indoor pool you can use. Take a ride up to Kennybunkport, not too far and if you like the village of Ogunquit you will love Kennybunkport. If you do go take a ride out and see the former Presidents compound.

It's chucking it down up here today! As you say, not gonna let it get us down, we're going to head up to Kennebunkport and on to Portland. Fingers crossed it's better 2mor and we can do the Marginal Way and Perkins Cove.

ncmc: We have had a gorgeous summer this year. Sorry your weather is less than lovely, but the forecast shows improvement!

DiceMan: Is there any place in Ogunquit that you'd reco for a pre-theater dinner? I know your report deals specifically with Labor Day weekend, but I really don't want to stand in line for an hour or two. It's a family group of 5 women, so doesn't need to be romantic. :-)

Thanks Diceman, I've read many of your posts and find your info very helpful.

I've also been looking through the forums and we are thinking of visiting Maine. It will be our first trip and we think that Orgunquit and surrounding areas sound like what we are looking for. When do you think the crowds will thin out? Seeing that we want to travel from town to town this fall, between mid September to late October, for a weel to 10 days, do you think hotel reservations are necessary?

Many lovely places to dine in and around the area, lines will not be a problem, people and traffic thin out after Labor Day; many restaurants also close for the winter months.

When are you going to Ogunquit?

What price range are you looking for in a restaurant?

What show are you seeing, Miss Saigon or Legally Blonde?

People and traffic thin out after Labor Day, you can usually get away without reservations at this time especially during the week from Sunday till Thursdays, If you have one particular special place you want to stay then I would suggest making a reservation in advance.

In the Oqunquit, Wells area there are an abundance of hotels and motels.
