we are thinking of visiting maine in july after 5 days in boston, not sure where to stay, we are a family of 2 adults and 3 children aged 14, 12, and 10.

need to keep the kids occupied

Acadia National Park has lots of fun outdoor activities for children from hiking to kayaking to biking on the car-free carriage roads to boat excursions out to the small islands. Look for a place to stay in the Bar Harbor area.

Boothbay Harbor is a very family-friendly town, offering lots of activity -- including sailing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, whale-watch tours, as well as bowling, train rides, miini-golf, and a really great YMCA, among other things. Picking just one area of either State would be a task in itself.

Maine is 35,385 sq miles ( 91,646 km ) large

The New Hampshire is 9,400 sq miles ( 24,215) large.

How long are you visiting For?

Is price an issue as to where you stay?

5 people in one room could be a problem.

What kind of outdoor sports are you accustomed to?

What would you like to try?
