BEst time to drive for foliage?

i tried to be responsibel and look through other postings before posting this, which seems like a popular question... but i could not find any information! I would like to do the drive up from Philadelphia in the fall and catch all the turning foliage vistas ive heard so much about. Anyone have an idea when the best itme to do that is?

Thank you for trying to be responsible, and for making me smile!

The Northern New England foliage colors begin in the mountains in September and work their way to the coast into mid-late October. It being all up to Mother Nature, the dates are just generalized. Catching it at its "peak" is a matter of luck, unless your dates are flexible, and you can travel whenever. Maine does maintain a website that will be activated again in the fall, when they have something to report. This links to last fall's final report:
