restaurants for one year old?

My husband and I know Portland well and love the restaurants. However this will be our first visit with our one year old. We are looking for a middle to upscale restaurant that would be kid friendly. Typically we love going to Fore Street or the Back Bay Grille. However, I'm not sure about bringing the baby there. Obviously, the menu doesn't have to be "kid" friendly just looking for a place that would be ok with a child in the early evening....like 5pm!

The Pepperclub is our favorite and seems friendly enough a place. I don't think they have a kids menu but I wouldn't see a kid as a problem. We've taken ours but they are a few years older. I would call it 'middle' as opposed to 'upscale.' We've eaten at Local 188 when others had babies there and they didn't seem unwelcome. Waitstaff was very nice.
