I am afraid to say it but, imho, Red's is over-rated

Went to Red's Eats for the first time ever yesterday. Ordered Lobster Roll and small onion rings.

Problems I had:

- onion rings barely warm and way too much batter per ring

- lobster meat fridge cold - I was not expecting that and, to me, warm meat is more appealing; $14.95

- roll tasted sweet and actually on the stale side

I drove a long way for this experiment (from Ogunquit) so thought I should report in my findings.

I love Red's -- every year it has been consistently one of the best lobster rolls that we enjoy while in Maine. I agree that the expectations for it have gotten sky high due to the publicity it has gotten over the years. I think that's why people debate about it--its well known whereas many of the lobster places in Maine are just trailers on the side of the road or a dock in some small town...but they have great lobster rolls too. So enjoy the variety and give Red's a break!
