Great place to visit, lots of little quaint stores and shops to visit and the beaches are awesome. Just watch the meter and where you park, York has thought of every way possible to make as much revenue as possible on sticking it to tourists. The parking rates are higher than your average city or town and permits are only available to residents. There are no weekly permits for vacationers so be careful. The parking violations are expensive and double if you don't pay in 7 days. There is a 24 hr appeal, if you go to the York Police website you will find a list of unacceptable excuses so be prepared. Another interesting point is one of the only 3 ATMs in town is located inside the police station. Hmmm. I get it, these small beach communities need to rake in summer revenue to support the bloated population of fat cats in the off season, but sometimes I think they go too far and bite the hand that feeds their small businesses.
