Should we break routine of annual OCMD trip?

This will be the third year my wife and I take our two young children to OCMD. I use TA a lot and like to research all of our vacations, so over the past two years we've developed somewhat of a routine for OC.

We've stayed at the Hilton every year (and will again in June). We do A LOT of swimming at the Hilton pool, and supplement that with a little time on the beach.

We hit Fractured Prune in the mornings, lunch poolside from Belly Busters (the best fish tacos and shrimp salad wraps), and dinner at Crabcake Factory, Dead Freddies, Lombardi's.

We hit the Boardwalk, Trimper's, Northside Park.

So my question is, if this is all the stuff we love doing, should we just continue doing this? Are there other things we should be doing or exploring?

The only "new" thing I'm planning this year is to visit the casino one night. Other than that, more of the same.

Any thoughts on finding what you love and just doing those things while traveling?

Try to schedule you vacation around an event like the Air Show or the Dew Tour in August.

Depending on your children's ages, they might enjoy taking a ride on the Duckaneer. It's a pirate ship for families with water cannons and "booty" for the kids. www.theduckaneer.com

How about Frontiertown? They have costumed shoot outs daily and a water park.

Ever play laser tag? Head to Planet Maze on 32/33rd St. I'm 60 and tried it for the first time last year and loved it!! They have vests for all sizes.

Buy a kite or two and fly them on the beach!

There's a free zoo in Salisbury (about a half hour drive west)

Do you know about all the FREE things in OC?

Free movies on the beach at 27th St. Tuesday and Friday nights in July and August. They also have them at the Carousel Hotel and the Princess Royale Hotel.

Sundaes in the Park. Free concert Sunday evenings at Northside Park. And for a small fee, you can make your own ice cream sundaes to enjoy while listening to the concert.

Free concerts on the beach all summer.

Family beach olympics!!

You can find information on all of these things and more at www.ococean.com/events

And send for a free Visitor Guide at www.ococean.com/visitor-guide

There's so much to do and see in and around Ocean City I can't imagine going anywhere else.

You have been to OC, probably driven up to Bethany and Rehoboth, maybe taken a walk on the boards, etc. So, this really is a question best resolved in therapy cause we don't know what you should do.

I will say that my family for probably 15 years has always gone to Lombardi's for dinner one night, Dough Roller for breakfast one morning and always take a ride up to Bethany (for what reason I don't know cause the shops aren't that great). So, I feel you and hope to have the courage to do something different myself. -Otherwise, I might be joining you on that therapy couch.

You don't say what the age of your children are, but you could go kayaking or the free zoo in Salisbury: tripadvisor.com/…40505089

Vacations are for doing what you love to do. We will make our 18th trip to OC in July, and I already know most of what we will do. If you enjoy what you are doing in a place you want to be, what could be better?

Go to the DiscoverSea Museum in Fenwick. It's got stuff from mostly local shipwrecks, and is a great little museum.

I've been going to OC for overall 30 years myself. The last 9 with my family and we hit the same places just like you. If its not broke, don't fix it is what I say.

But I will add a few ideas for you, and they are:

Go to Jolly Rodgers Splash Mt for the day, its fun

Ride the go carts in west OC

Visit Assateague island for a few hours

Other than that, have fun.

If you are looking for places to eat and take the kids try Fish Tales. I applaud your gastrointestinal fortitude.....if you can eat Belly Busters you can eat anything!!!!

I say that tongue in cheek....to me Belly Busters used to be awful but I tried them again last summer and it was pretty good. Of course I was walking back to the condo at about 1AM after a little imbibing. I have never had a bad cheesesteak at 1 AM!

OCMD is about traditions. It doesn't feel like a proper OCMD trip unless you hit up your favorite places.

That said, always look for new places and things to see and do. Restaurants to eat, etc. My wife and I always make it a point to see or do something new each time we are there, which is about 10-12 times a year.

I still need to get a burger from OC Frogs which I hear are amazing.

Go to Frontiertown. It is one of my fondest childhood memories of Ocean City. My Dad always took us and my Mom enjoyed part of the day without the kids.
