Chesapeake Bay area or Chincoteague Island

We are trying to decide if we should spend a couple of days in the Chesapeake Bay area or Chincoteague Island at the end of May. We are active and love to bike. It seems like there might be more country road type biking in the Bay area than the Chincoteague Island.

Do any of you have any suggestions or preferences of locations?

There was a park ranger at the entrance when we arrived but there is no gate as such. I didn't notice them patrolling but I wasn't paying attention. It was a very quiet, family type campground - quiet time started at 11pm and it was quiet.

You will definitely need a flashlight to walk to the bathroom at night. The actual building is well lit but the road to get there is dark. It is a fairly short walk from all of the cabins.

We did not try the BBQ place on 404. There was a BBQ place attached to the Shell station about a mile from the park entrance.

Enjoy!
