Chatham in October

We will be renting a house in Chatham for the month of October and would welcome any suggestions on off season activities that we should not miss.

Its off season_there aren't any activities. Do you have anything in mind? Why did you pick October? Most people choose this time for the quiet. One activity-walking on beach.

Wellfleet has its oyster festival in October--usually mid-month. You can search for the dates this year.

There are things to do in October, just less of them. The Cape is home to many full-time residents so it is not as if they just lock the gate on Labor Day Weekend! As noted the Wellfleet Oyster Fest is in October, this year it is the 13th & 14th. You can kayak Nauset Marsh and/or walk the Fort Hill trail; bike the Cape Cod Rail trail, visit the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History; golf; antiques;galleries; attend an author's reading at the Brewster Book Store; see a play at the Wellfleet Harbor Actor's Theater; take in a craft fair. As the summer progresses, check out the Cape Cod times online calendar section for more scheduled activities.

Well, there are some activities. As Kendrick said http://www.capecodonline.com/ is one of the best way to find out what is going on.

Those of us who live here manage to fill our days somehow...LOL. How active are you? Do you bike? kayak? sail? fish?walk? shop? cook? take photos? like the beach? Or perhaps you like art galleries, live theater, movies, historic house tours, folk music, fine dining, farmer's markets, local lectures, small quant towns, gardens, golf, tennis, spas, gyms, trips to the islands.

It's all here....inspite of what some tourists might think the real Cape Cod does not shut down when they are gone! Explore and you will find it all.

Here are a couple links to give you an idea what's going on in Chatham in October.

And as others have said, there's plenty going on in other nearby towns, too.

Thank you for all the information.

We are excited about spending the fall on the Cape and have no concerns that we will find things to do, but mostlywe will just relax and enjoy the area.
