Bright blue skies, golden marshes, colorful foliage and a cozy wood fire in the fireplace…..who could ask for more on a beautiful fall weekend?
Well, if you are visiting the Outer Cape over Halloween you will find plenty to do on the outer Cape. Visit the Cape Cod National Seashore’s Salt Pond Visitor’s Center for orientation, museum and short films or take part in some of the other Ranger-Guided Activities. This weekend on Saturday in Eastham there is a tour of the Captain Penniman House at Fort Hill, Seal Walk on Coast Guard Beach and a walk along Nauset Marsh called “Lore of Nauset Marsh”. On Sunday there is a shoreline stroll at Great Island in Wellfleet.
The Fort Hill Area has recently been mowed and provides scenic views out to Nauset Marsh and the Atlantic…it’s a perfect place to walk if you decide to take in the hour-long tour of the Captain Penniman House. The Fort Hill Area has a rich history of Native Americans, colonial settlements, whaling families and farmers with spectacular views of the marsh and Red Maple Swamp.
