Staying In Edgartown. How do the Beaches work as far as parking goes? Do we have to pay to park.? State Beach or South Beach? How early do we have to get there? Do they have restrooms?

Parking at both State and South beaches is free. There is plenty of parking, but you will want to get there before noon (11am if during August) in order to get a decent spot. State Beach is on the Sound, little to no waves and no bathrooms. South Beach has some bathrooms, is on the Atlantic and can have some nice waves and a rip.

Depending on the weather and conditions, you might find State Beach sunny and nice, while South Beach can be socked in with fog and cool. Always check the weather and webcam before choosing to head out to South Beach mvcodata.whoi.edu/cgi-bin/mvco/mvco.cgi
