Picnic to go for Tanglewood

My husband & I are spending July 4th weekend in Lenox and we have lawn tickets for Tanglewood. When we've gone previously we ordered a picnic dinner from the b&b where we stayed, but I couldn't get reservations there and the place where we are staying doesn't provide that service. Where can I order a gourmet picnic dinner to go?

JT and Carole King at tanglewood . Can't be beat. unless Yo Yo Ma joins them which is possible.

I wish I could remember the names of places, but there are a number of gourmet deli's, markets, etc where you can get picnic lunches right in Lenox.

Tanglewood themselves sell picnics to go when you get there. I don't think the website is showing the different options yet (I can't find it) but last year you could buy various picnic kits to pick up when you get there.

Go with the off site food. The onsite is mediocre and expensive.

At least off site it will be good, even if it is still expensive.

of course no snob worthy of Tanglewood would deign to buy one of the picnic meals sold at the concert - it would be as gauche as using the public restroom. better to find amenities off site.

Your best bet is to bring your own picnic set, and get food to go from one of the 27 restaurants open in lenox. Nejaimes does have some excellent cheeses and pates, though , and an excellent wine selection>

Thanks, after surveying the options, I think the best option is to assemble our own picnic.

OK - Have to pipe in - We, too, have lawn seats to JT and CK. (Birthday gift from my kids). Staying at a local motel, but never thought about the picnic...but now am planning my wine and menu!

Let's pray to the weather Gods for no rain!
