Beach relaxation?

We're going to be arriving into Boston from UK end of July and would like a couple of days R & R by the beach.

Is Plymouth the right place to look? (We're heading for Washington)

We'd like a little sightseeing, some good food and some beach flopping!

Thanks

Plymouth has a few beaches, but it's really not a beach town type of destination. The beaches are okay but there's much better ones to hit along the way to Washington.

Plymouth is a great place to visit to walk around the waterfront/marina area and eat seafood. If you are looking for a few days to just hang at the Plymouth, I recommend driving down to the Cape and to the town of Chatham, it is a really nice beach, expensive but nice. BUT Plymouth does have beaches and Duxbury the town next to us has a nice beach. Good luck and have fun!
