Looking for fishing village w/some pretty fall foliage

We will be flying and then shuttle/bus/taxi/whatever- don't want to do the driving ourselves. Looking for a place to visit for just a few days so we won't have time to travel around much. Need public transportation. We'd like to stay on coast and see some colorful fall foliage. We are considering Acadia/Bar Harbor (I know that is Maine ;- ). Is there a Mass. alternative? What dates are most likely good color?

Maine would be a better choice for fall foliage along the coast. The colors depend upon climate conditions which are not favorable near the coast. Cape Cod has very muted fall color.

Right - the Cape is not known for its fall foliage. Whether you plan to go to Maine or elsewhere in New England, the link below will take you to a site with fall foliage reports from last year. This will give you a rough idea of where to see foliage at its peak in various states:
