cheap transportation from Logan Airport to provincetown.

Just checked prices to fly into provincetown from Logan..too pricey. I once heard of a taxi cab ran by a female, I believe. Her prices were very reasonable. Now, I can't think of her name. Can you recommend a cheap way to get from Logan to Provincetown? We checked out the bus system; but because of all the stops, we would spend the whole day traveling.

Logan Airport to Provincetown is about 115 miles, so I doubt you'll find a cheap taxi cab. If the cab is based in P-town, you are looking at 230+ mile round trip just to drive you, unless the driver can get somebody going frmo P-town to Boston who needs to be there just before your arrival.

The only options are:

-- rent a car

-- pick up one of the ferries downtown after travelling there via subway, water taxi or traditional taxi

-- Plymouth and Brockton bus (you'll have a short layover in Hyannis)

Here's some links to help you choose:

two ferries:

One bus (that I know of):

PS ... you didn't say when you were coming, but the ferries only run from mid-May to mid-Oct.

Are you traveling alone? If not, then it may be worth your while to rent a car...even a one way/one day rental. If you are alone, then take the P+B Logan Express and if the timing of the Express going to the outer cape does not work out, try to transfer to the RTA/ Flex bus for the final leg of the trip to Provincetown. www.smartguide.org/capecod/land-links.html

The cheapest way to P'town is by bus but the service is infrequent. www.p-b.com The bus, which you can get at Logan, is only about a half hour longer than driving, a little over 3 hours as opposed to 2.5 hours by car. Service to Hyannis is more frequent but local service beyond Hyannis really is slow and Provincetown requires an addition bus change in Orleans. The next step up in price would be the fast ferry, which is only 90 minutes from Boston to P'town. www.bostonharborcruises.com and www.ptownfastferry.com

Great article, cheap transportation from Logan Airport is something that it seems more and more people are overlooking with the economy looking rough, but is definitely something that can provide you some reassurance. Thanks
