First trip to the Cod!

Hi, my husband and I are staying in W. Yarmouth for the weekend (arriving Friday, leaving Sunday evening.)

Given that it's a short trip, what are the 'must see' places?

We're not really lay on the beach all day people, but enjoy experiencing the people, culture, and the food/drink.

We'll probably rent a car, how is parking if we drive around?

Thanks!

Head away from West Yarmouth (tourista central) and drive over to 6 A starting in Barnstable and drive all the way til you get tired. Great galleries, eateries, boutiques...Go to Gray's Beach (Yarmouthport)for sunset and ice cream at Smuggler (Dennis). I am sorry but I am a Cape snob so if you want culture, charm, historic sites and scenes, head to where the cool old houses are and the charming side of Cape Cod, 6 A.

You could visit the town of Chatham and walk their main street - stop for lunch at the Squires Inn or The imprudent Oyster - Parking can be a bit tricky but checking out the parking lots will yield a space. Go to the Lighthouse or take a Seal Tour out of Chatham harbor or just stop and sit at Brax landing for refreshments and a view. For Saturday night's entertainment check out Cape Cod Online for a listing of music or plays if interested. there are a lot of live music venues depending on your interest. Take a ride down 6A in either direction and stop off at any of many galleries etc. go toward Eastham and stop at Marconi Point and the Saltwater Vistor's center go onto Truro and Provincetown if you have time for all that in one day!!- Obviously you will need a car to get the most out of the trip

not an expert in beach parking but, have never had a problem in the summer parking in chatham, p-town or anywhere along 6A. the slower moving traffic along most roads is another story.

Sandy Neck Beach is one of the nicest beaches on the cape. Also a trip on the ferry to Marthas Vineyard. Hayannis has some nice resturants and shops. Mama Angies in Yarmouth has good italian food. Sandy Neck Beach is located off Rt6a in Barnstable.
