Baseball trip to Detroit

Our baseball trip next summer will be taking us to Detroit. Where is a good place to stay? Also I would like ideas of things to see when we are in the Detroit area. We plan to fly and our friends will probably drive. We have also thought about driving to Pittsburgh to see a game there. Any advice?

Hello caroljf24,

What interest do you have. Lots of different things to see in Detroit. What age group and how many people are you planning to travel with.

How long will you be in Detroit?

This will help us answer your questions better.

When you say "baseball trip", do you mean a trip specifically to see a Tigers game, or are you attached to a travel baseball team of some type? I'm assuming the Tigers.

Just browse the Detroit forum for plenty of ideas on what to do, then post back with questions.

Pittsburg is about a five hour drive from Detroit.

Yes, we are travelling to major league stadiums to see a baseball game in each stadium. This year we picked Detroit out of the hat for next year.

We are meeting another couple in Detroit. We are in our 60's. We have talked about going to the Ford Museum- other than that, no other ideas. I'm guessing that we will spend 3-4 days in Detroit and about the same time in Pittsburgh.

For downtown Detroit with proximity to Comerica Park I always recommend the Hilton Garden Inn. It's a short walk to Comerica Park. In additon it is also an easy walk to restaurants, bars, Greektown, Greektown Casino and more.

If you are intersted, the Detroit Institute of Arts is a great place to spend and afternoon.

The Henry Ford is inDearborn so you will need a car. you can easily spend a day there.

Hi,

May I recommend a walk on the River, dinner & dessert in Greektown. Also, if you rent a car, take a drive to Belle Isle. Wouldnt go there at night but durning the day its nice.

The Atwater brewery is located off the River. Nice little stop for lunch.
