Cab after Tiger game....

Just curious how hard it may be to get a cab after night Tiger game? We are going in July and may want to catch a cab after. Are they lined right up...would you need to fight over waving one down? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I belive cabs will pick up on Adams street. I don't believe there is actually a formal line up - they will be mixed in with the bar shuttles that also pick up there.

What is your destination? If downtown a bar shuttle or the people mover may be a better option. If farther out, getting to another bar/restaurant and calling for one might be an option if you can't find one outside the park.

Probably just going to need it for going to/from hotel. Looking at Priceline for the hotel. Not sure where it will be, just in the downtown area.

Once you know your hotel, check back here with a name and you may find that it is an easy walk or a quick ride on the People Mover.

A lot of the bars downtown do shuttles to and from the stadium. Once you know your hotel we can let you know if it's walkable or if there is a bar with a shuttle near by.

I'd agree, people mover or shuttle from a bar is better....the traffic jam after a game can get quite chaotic ...

Uber is now available in Detroit too, so that may be an option for you. The only place I've ever successfully gotten a taxi in Detroit is from a cab stand in front of a hotel (e.g., the Marriott across from the RenCen).

Found an express deal on Priceline for a downtown hotel (listed as 4 star on their site) $109/night and it listed free parking. I pretty much have deduced it has GOT to be the Greektown hotel. Looks like the People Mover will be the way to go from there. Last time in the D we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and although the walk wasn't horrible I just would find it safer to get a ride or use the people mover that from all accounts is very safe.

Free parking would indicate a casino since those are about the only ones that have it, but it could also be MGM Grand or Motor City, which put you outside of the people mover loop and are not easily walkable.

The walk from Greektown is fine. It is only a couple blocks longer than taking the PM to the Grand Circus Park station and walking from there. You will pass police HQ on Beaubien on the way, so it is a rather safe area.
