Hi,
My dad and I will be in Detroit for 2 days this August as part of a 5-city baseball stadium trek. I think I've figured out the best things to do in the area, just hoping for suggestions on how to piece it all together. Some info:
Day 1 --> we're driving up from Cincy (about 4 hrs to Detroit)
Day 2 --> we have Tigers vs Yanks tix for a night game @ 7:05 PM
Lodging --> Motorcity Casino is already booked (via Hotwire) for both nights
Looks like the best attractions to see during the day are the Henry Ford Museum / Greenfield Village / Motown Museum.
1) Is it too ambitious to hit all 3 with the time we have? If I had to pick one between Henry Ford / Greenfield, which one should I pick? (can't skip Motown, my dad's a huge music buff)
Was thinking of the following:
Day 1 --> leave Cincy early, get to either Henry Ford / Greenfield by noon
Day 2 --> try to hit both Motown and whatever's left over from Henry Ford / Greenfield, then Tigers game at night
* Day 3, we head to Toronto early, but might be able to squeeze in Motown in the AM if that makes more sense
2) Since MotorCity Casino Is our home base, can we walk to downtown / is it advisable? There is a shuttle to Comerica, but only 1/2 hour before / after game, not enough time to grab dinner near park, etc. Should we drive into downtown instead...where should we park?
3) Restaurants --> looks like the best are in Greektown, but are there other gems close to Comerica, Henry Ford Museum, or practical to Motorcity Casino location (in case we don't drive into downtown) that anyone could recommend?
Thanks in advance!
