Can I walk from the station to the center of town?

Sure, but would you be arriving at 10:30PM? I would probably take a taxi the short distance. "Center of town" being Monroe-Pearl street area, the amtrak station would be no more than a mile away towards the south. No issues if you were walking during the day, but why risk it at night?

It's a 1 mile walk. About 1/2 of that is a little desolate at night so use caution. Map it - once you get north of US131 it is fine anytime of day.

Sure! The station is not far from the middle of downtown Grand Rapids. You could also take a taxi if you felt more comfortable!

Visit http://www.experiencegr.com/ for more information on where to stay, eat and to find helpful maps of downtown.

We hope you have a wonderful stay in Grand Rapids!

Here's a novel idea: we have a couple of pedicab companies, and they would love the chance to come collect you at Amtrak. They tend to stay downtown (where the potential fares are) and Amtrak is very close by.

Look up Green Machine or Grand pedicabs for dispatch phone numbers.
