Where is the nicest place to swim near Grayling where the water is clear and not too cold?
There's a state park in that area with access to Higgins Lake (link below). Higgins is beautiful and IMO one of the cleanes inland lakes in Michigan. I'm not sure what the temperature of the water will be though. It's been a relatively cooler summer for MI and the lake temps may reflect that.
Maybe someone else here can help with the lake temperature better than I can!
It looks beautiful but I keep reading that swimmer's itch is very common there. How about Wakeley Lake? I've hiked there on the west side, is there a beach at the campground/
Been on Higgins several times this Summer (and will be today / this wk.end) & have friends who live on E. Side of the lower bowl North of the State Park ... They and I have had no issues. Was on Burt most of July and the SI there seemed less than usual ... Also, just take easy precautions ...
Stay out of shallows / calm water. ///

Rub briskly with a towel when you get out .Robcrest we wouldn't tell it out
How about the State Forest Campground on Lake Margrethe in Grayling.
