They are both nice! It's more going to depend on which amenities are important to you and what the prices are for when you are staying. The pool area at the DoubleTree is much larger - it was built originally as a Holiday Inn with a Holidome but the entire hotel was recently completely renovated. There are also rooms overlooking the pool area and a full service restaurant on site. They do not have a free breakfast, however. The Fairfield is a smaller property with a smaller indoor pool and whirlpool and they do serve a free continental breakfast. Hope that's helpful - if you have further questions, feel free to call us at 800-506-1299.

Well let's see:

Double Tree was originally built as a Holiday Inn so will be an older building. They have a pool and are located on US 31 on the outskirts of town. There is not much of interest in that area (movie theatre). They are part of the Hilton family so you can assume some expectations of cleanliness etc that comes with Hilton. Most important the the chocolate chip cookie at check in.

The Fairfield (by Marriott) is fairly new, 5, 6 years or so. It is also located on US 31 but in a busier area. There is a mall, a strip mall with Old Navy, Barnes and Noble and such, lots of restuarants , Dutch Village, movie theatre, and lots of other stores. They also have a pool and it appears they have a continental breakfast.

Both are only 5 or 10 minutes to town but you could get to a beach a bit faster from the Fairfield. The Double Tree would be closer to Saugatuck and the Fairfield would be closer to Grand Haven if those towns are of interest.

Ahh thanks Visitholland I should type faster.
