Tulipfest without a car?

We want to travel by Amtrak and not rent a car. Is doing Tulipfest without a car feasible? Are there shuttles? Is one hotel best for walking, seeing parades, dutch dancing, and of course seeing the tulips? Thanks in advance!

Tulip Time in Holland spands about 3 weeks. Is it possible to do without a car? Well yes but there would be things that would be missed. Most but not all activities take place downtown. There are 2 hotels right downtown. Amtrak's schedule is not the most convenient as there is only 1 round trip daily. I know that there is a shuttle that runs to outlying parking areas, but not sure if there is transportation to the tulip gardens or not. Of course the parks downtown will have tulips. There are tours for hire that start downtown, either bus or open trolley, that travel The Tulip Lane route. I am sure that Tulip Time has a current web site or check the Holland visitors bureau.

Hello, Sunny! Thanks for you question! The dates for the 2013 Tulip Time Festival are May 4-11. However, the tulips are often in bloom a bit before or after the festival. If you plan to come during the festival, we recommend that you make your hotel reservations soon! There are two hotels that are within walking distance of the Holland Amtrak station- CityFlats and the Haworth Inn. Both are excellent properties! Please check www.tuliptime.com for a full schedule of events and information about the shuttles. Many of the Tulip Time activities are within walking distance of the hotels in the Downtown area, but some of the entertainment are a few miles' drive. Cabs are available.

You can find hotel information at www.holland.org, and please call 800.506.1299 for a free visitors guide!

Not sure if I would want to be walking to either of the 2 hotels at 9:15 at night when the Amtrak stops in Holland (if it is on time). With luggage it would be a bit of a walk. Better to arrange for a cab.

Yes, there is cab information here: holland.org/visitors/maps-and-transportation/

The Haworth Inn & the DoubleTree both have shuttle vans, so you might be able to make arrangements with either of them.
