What is there to see/do/eat in Manistee

Any suggestions for the Manistee area? This will be over Memorial Day weekend. We will be camping at Orchard Beach SP. We don't care about going towards Traverse City. Frankfort might be a half day destination, also.

Hi tyme! I'm no expert, but we've found a couple of restaurants just off 31 on the south side of the river that are nice, good menus, some outdoor seating overlooking the river. Then there is also the The Little River Casino a few miles to the north.. If you golf there are some excellent courses including Arcadia Bluffs near by.

Thanks Rono, will try to find those restaurants-if you remember the names, let me know. I had forgotten the casino-lol. Thanks again.

I haven’t camped at Orchard State Park in years but it was very nice from what I remember. A bunch of stairs to get to the beach but worth it. One year we watched the salmon from the top of a sand dune. And of course beautiful sunsets.

While in Manistee we always go to Goody’s for coffee, scones, good sandwiches etc. There is also a wine shop in downtown Manistee – name escapes me – but it’s owned by an Irish woman with Detroit ties so it’s always fun to visit her. We canoe the Manistee River as well. In nearby Onekama I would suggest eating at the Blue Slipper. There is also a wine tasting shop for Chateau Grand Traverse in Onekama that we always make a stop at as well. Have a good trip.

Well have a great trip - I’m jealous I have to wait until late July before I’m up there! Ugh! LOL

Make sure you go to Pymarid Point. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Blue Slipper was good but expensive. We are a family of 5. We didn't drive far enough down the road there is a second blue slipper that makes pizzas. We went back to that one the pizza was awesome. We love the manistee area. We go to the antique stores in town. Catch a movie at Vogue theater if it is a raining day. We find also many secluded beaches. We canoe next time we will take the long canoe trip. If you like wine there is a great store called Chappys great selection of wine it is on the road of the campground. There is so much to do. Enjoy! If you have anymore questions I will be more than happy to answer. By the way you are going to love the campground on the bluffs of Lake Michigan.

If your looking for great food definitely try the Bungalow in Manistee. Ask the locals and they will tell you thats the place to eat.
