We are heading to Traverse City on Sunday. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any great spots to watch the sunset. We are thinking somewhere we can go with the kids... maybe a beach, or a high spot with great views... maybe somewhere we can pack a picnic and sit?

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

You'd want to out to Pierce Stocking Drive, in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, near Empire. At stop number 4 or 5, I believe, (there will be a mass of cars..lol), I think it is called the Lake Michigan Overlook. Go sit at the top of the dune (no, wyou don't have to climb it, you'll be at the top) and watch a beautiful sunset. I suggest getting there early enough to park. There are no picnic tables at this spot that I am aware of, but you can always take a blanket and small basket with you and eat sitting on the sand. I am sure others will chime in...

Pierce Stocking Drive is a great suggestion OR, if you don't want to drive that far, go up to the Top Of The Park Place for a drink at sunset.

Two other ideas where kids would have fun (however they are a bit more of a drive):

The beach where the Platte river ends or the Marina at Leland.
